Given :–

  • An fraction, ½ + ¾

To Find :–

  • The sum of the given fraction.
  • Express it in the lowest term.

Solution :–

1. Given fraction is,

⟹ ½ + ¾

Now, take the L.C.M. od the denominators.

L.C.M. of 2 and 4 = 2 × 2 = 4

Now,

 \dfrac{1 \times 2 + 3 \times 1}{4}

 \dfrac{2 + 3}{4}

 \dfrac{5}{4}

Hence,

The sum of the given fraction is  \dfrac{5}{4}

2. After solving the given fraction (½ + ¾).

We get,  \dfrac{5}{4}

So, we have to express it in the lowest term.

But, the sum of the fraction (\dfrac{5}{4}) is already in the lowest term.
