By elimination method

2y=4

y=2

x=6

Answer 2

Using elemination method

x + y = 8

x - y = 4

2x = 12

=> x = 12/2

=> x = 6

and, from 1st equation,

x + y = 8

=> 6 + y = 8

=> y = 8 - 6

=> y = 2
