[1/28, 3:47 PM] Shikhar Pandey: 3 kg of air at 150 Kpa pressure and 360 K temperature is compressed

polytropically to pressure 750 Kpa according to the law 1.2=C

.Subsequently the air is cooled to initial temperature at constant

pressure. This is followed by expansion at constant temperature till the

original pressure of 150 Kpa is reached.Sketch the cycle on P-V and T-s

curve and determine the work done ,heat transfer and entropy change for

each process.Take =1.005 Kj/kgK, =0.718 Kj/kgK and R=0.287

Kj/kgK
[1/28, 3:47 PM] Shikhar Pandey: One kg of ice at -4°c is exposed to the atmosphere which is at 20°c. The ice

melts and comes into equilibrium with the atmosphere. Determine the

entropy increase of the universe. For ice take =2.09 Kj/kgK and latent

heat of fusion =333 Kj/kg

Proceed to calculate the minimum amount of work necessary to convert the

water back into ice at -4°c.
