Answer:

1/2x + 13y =2 ....(i)

1/3y + 1/2y =13/6 ....(ii)

1/x=u , 1/y=v

equation (i)

let, u/2 + v/3 = 2

=3u+2v/6 = 2

=3u+2v=12 .......(iii)

and equation (ii)

u/3 + v/2 =13/6

= 2u+3v/6 =13/6

=2u + 3v =13 .......(iv)

equation (iii) multiple for 2 and equation (iv) multiple for 3 or subtracting,

6u+4v=24

6u+9v=39

- - -

0-5v = -15

v=3

Now, putting for v equation (i)

3u+2v=12

= 3u+2(3)=12

= 3u= 12-6

= u=6/3

= u=2

since,

1/x=u

= 1/x= 2

= x= 1/2

and

= 1/y= v

= 1/y= 3

= y= 1/3

x=1/2

y=1/3 ans
