Here, we are given to factorise,
1 - 2x + x²
Here, we can see that,
1 = (1)²
-2x = -2(1)(x)
x² = (x)²
=> 1 - 2x + x²
= (1)² - 2(x)(1) + (x)²
Using,
a² - 2ab + b² = (a - b)², we get
(1)² - 2(x)(1) + (x)²
= (1 - x)²
Second method :-
1 - 2x + x²
= x² - 2x + 1
= x² - x - x + 1
= x(x - 1) - 1(x - 1)
= (x - 1)(x - 1)
= (x - 1)²
