Answer:

y = 8

Step-by-step explanation:

3 (y + 8) = 10 (y – 4) + 8

= 3y + 24 = 10y - 40 + 8

= 3y + 24 = 10y - 32

= - 7y = - 56

= 7y = 56

= y = 8

Solution :-

 \sf{3(y + 8) = 10(y - 4) + 8}

Here, we will muptiply (y + 8) with 3 as given in question and (y - 4) with 10 as given in question. So,

 \sf{3y + 24 = 10y - 40 + 8}

Take y term to Right hand side and another term to Left Hand Side

 \sf{24 + 40 - 8 = 10y - 3y} \\  \\  \sf{64 - 8 = 7y} \\  \\  \sf{56 = 7y} \\  \\  \sf{ \frac{ \cancel56}{ \cancel7} = y } \\  \\  \sf{8y}
