total no. participating students are 300 out of which 100 are boys. therefore 200 of participating students are girls. now, let the total no. of boys in the college be x and girls be y . then 1/3 of x =100 & 1/2 of y = 200 which gives x = 300 & y = 400. so total no of student in college which is x+y = 700

if boys are 100, the girls will be 150 as 1/3 of 300 will be 150..
therefore, number of studenys in the college are 250...
