1/3x as x/3 and 1/4y as y/4

The first to do is simplifying those equations, by multiplying or dividing.

Always remember to remove the fractions.

1/3x + y = 10/3 → x + 3y = 10

2x + 1/4y = 11/4 → 8x + y = 11
