Given sets

A={1,2,3,4,5}

B={2,4,6,8}

n(A)=5

n(B)=4

AUB={1,2,3,4,5} U {2,4,6,8}

AUB={1,2,3,4,5,6,8}

n(AUB)=7

ANB={1,2,3,4,5} N {2,4,6,8}

ANB={2,4}

n(ANB)=2

n(AUB)=n(A) + n(B) - n(ANB)

7 = 5 + 4 - 2

7 = 9 - 2

7 = 7

Hence proved
