Acc to the question, let us assume that the length of the wire is "x" cm.

Now, portion of the wire in black color = x/4.

Portion of the wire in white color = 3x/8

Portion of the wire in blue color = 6.

3x/4 = 12 or, x = 16cm. [Ans]

Therefore, the length of the wire is 16cm.

If you have any doubt, cross check the answer:

1/4 of 16cm is in black color i.e. 4cm in black color.

So, remaining part = 12cm.

Half of the remaining is in white colour i.e. 6cm in white color.

Now remaining length = 6cm which is in blue color. [Hence Proved] :)

Let the total length of a wire be x then as per the question,

6 cm is in blue color

¼ of x is black = ¼ * x

¾ * ½ of x is white = 3/8 * x

Total length of the wire is,

¼*x + 3/8*x + 6 = x

X –3/8*x – ½*x = 6

(8x – 3x – 4x)/8 = 6

X = 6 * 8

X = 48 cm

The white part =3/8 of x =3/8 * 48 = 18 cm
