Step-by-step explanation:

Draw a parallelogram and name the vertices as A, B, C and D, with A and B at the lower line. Extend CD on either side of C (name it F) and D (name it E).

Join A to E. Mark EQ = DC. So you have a new figure ABQE.

Since EQ = DC, EQ - DQ = DC- DQ. which means that ED = QC. and triangle EAD and QBC have the same base length and being between the same two parallels have equal area.

Add trapezium ABQD to triangle EAD to get the parallelogram ABQE.

Next add trapezium ABQD to triangle QBC to get the parallelogram ABCD. Therefore Areas of ABCD and ABQE are the same.

This proves that parallelograms on the same base and between the same two parallels have equal areas.
