1/5 of a flock of sheep is grazing in the field while three fourths of the remaining are setting nearby .If rest 20 are drinking water from the pond ,the total number of sheep in the flock is

Answer:

let no.of sheeps=x

So grazing in the field =(1/5)x

sitting sheeps=4/5×3/4x

 =  \frac{3x}{5}

rest sheeps =20

but rest sheeps=

x -  \frac{x}{5}  -  \frac{3x}{5}

  = \frac{x}{5}

so \:  \frac{x}{5}  = 20 \\ x = 100

so no.of sheeps in flock are 100
