Step-by-step explanation:

1/5+2/3

3+10/15

13/15

1-13/15

15-13/15

2/15

2/15=10

10×15/2

=75m

The Length Of The Whole Pipe Is 75 Meters

GIVEN

Fraction of length inside mud = 1/5

Fraction of length inside water = 2/3.

Length of pipe above water = 10 meters.

TO FIND

Total length of the pole.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows-

Let the total length of the pipe be, x

it is given,

1/5th part of total length of pipe is inside mud

That is,

Length of the pipe in mud = 1/5 of x

Similarly,

Length of pipe in water = 2/3 of x

Remaining length above water = 10 meters

So,

Total length of the pipe =

 \frac{x}{5}  +  \frac{2x}{3}  + 10 = x \:

 \frac{x}{5}  +  \frac{2x}{3}  = x - 10

Solving The LHS

 \frac{3x + 10x}{15}  =x  - 10

13 x = 15 (x-10)

13x = 15x- 150

-2x = -150

x = -150/-2 = 75

Hence, the Length of whole pipe is 75 meters.
