Let's think on a number line. Multiply a number like 1. The number will always stay there. Let's go for -1. The number will move to the opposite position from 0.

Let's say you have -1, and you multiply -1 to it. The number moves to 1.

→ (-1)×(-1)=(-1)²=1

Do it once more and the number now moves back to -1.

→ 1×(-1)=(-1)³=-1

The number is (-1)⁵⁰¹. Because 501 is odd, you will multiply 501 times, and you will eventually go back to -1.

Now, the answer is clearly -1.
