1/6(4y+5)-2/3(2y+7) = 3/2
4y+5/6 - 4y-14/3 =3/2
4y+5-8y-28/6
-4y-23 = 3/2
× 6
-4y-23 = 9
-4y = 9+23
-4y = 32
y = -32/4
therefore y= -8

Step-by-step explanation:

\frac{1}{6} (4y + 5) - \frac{2}{3} (2y + 7) = \frac{3}{2} \\

\frac{2}{3} y + \frac{5}{6} - \frac{4}{3} y - \frac{14}{3} = \frac{3}{2} \\

\frac{2}{3} y - \frac{4}{3} y + \frac{5}{6} - \frac{14}{3} = \frac{3}{2} \\

- \frac{2}{3} y + \frac{5 - 28}{6} = \frac{3}{2} \\

 - \frac{2}{3} y - \frac{23}{6} = \frac{3}{2} \\

- \frac{2}{3} y = \frac{3}{2} + \frac{23}{6} \\

 - \frac{2}{3} y = \frac{ 9+ 23}{6} \\

- \frac{2}{3} y = \frac{32}{6} \\

 y = \frac{32}{6} \times - \frac{3}{2} \\

y = - 8 \\

\\ hope \: it \: helps
