Number of students in the class are above average = 1/6

Number of students in the class are average = ¼

Number of students in the class are below average = 1 – ((1/6)+(1/4))

= 1 – ((2 + 3)/12)

= 1 – (5/12)

= (12 – 5)/12

= 7/12 students.

So, the number of students in the class = 48

Then

Number of students below average = (7/12) ×48

= (7/1) × 4

= 28

Answer:

TO FIND THE NUMBER OF BELOW AVERAGE STUDENTS WE NEED TO ADD THE NUMBER OF ABOVE AVERAGE AND AVERAGE STUDENTS.

1/6+1/4= 4/24+6/24=10/24

10/24 OF 72 = 10/24×72=30 STUDENTS

72-30 = 42 STUDENTS ARE BELOW AVERAGE STUDENTS.
