Given that 836 packets of pencils are packed equally into 15 boxes which means 836 pencils were divided into 15 groups (and packed)

Then number of pencils in each box = Total Number of pencils ÷ Number of boxes packed

= 836/15 = 55.733333

Here we can't say 55.733333 boxes

therefore number of boxes can be formed = 55

To find number of remaining pencils find number of pencils in 55 boxes

No. of pencils in 55 boxes = 55×15 = 825

From above

No. of remaining pencils = Total Number of pencils - 825

= 836 - 825 = 11

Therefore,

Number of pencils in each box = 55

Number of pencils left out = 11
