Answer :

MBrx+xHCl→MClx+xHBr

weight of MBrx=1.878g

weight of MClx=1.0g

For the reaction

Eqivalent of MBrx= Equivalent of MClx

1.878E+80=1.0E+35.5

E=15.18

∵ Atomic weight × Specific heat ≈6.4

∴ Atomic weight of metal M=6.40.14=45.71

∴ Valency of metal =Atomic WeightEw=45.7115.18

≈3.01=3 (integer)

∴ Exact atomic weight of metal =15.18×3=45.54

∴ Molecular weight of MBrx=45.54+80×3=285.54
