Given:

A 25 kg ball is thrown upward with a speed of 4 cm/s.

Assume g=9.8 ms^{-2}

Find:

(a) Find its potential energy when it reaches the highest point.

(b) Calculate the maximum height it reaches.

ii) Calculate the pressure exerted by a book of size 10cm x 20 cm if the mass of the book is 200 g in SI unit.

Solution:

Using 3  rd  Equation of motion

v^{2} =u^{2} -2gh

0=4^{2} -2*9.8*h

h=0.816

Potential Energy at highest point = mgh

=25*9.8*0.816

=199.92
