1. A ball is thrown straight up and caught after 2 seconds. Which of the following are true if
acceleration due to gravity is 10 m/s2 and air resistance can be neglected.
(a The acceleration at the highest point is 10 m/s2.
(b) The time taken, in the upward and downward parts of the motion, is not equal.
(c) The maximum height does not depend on acceleration due to gravity.
(d) The acceleration, as it is just thrown up, is +10 m/s2

Answer:

(a) Accelereation at highest point is +10m/s^2

Explanation:

Practically,

(b)Time taken to go upwards(Time of ascent),Time taken to go downwards are always equals. So,its not correct.

(c)At maximum height, By second and third equation we get the value of Height, depending on the data we have.so, Accelereation due to gravity is always required to find the maximum height and it's not true, I mean the option is False.

(d)When an body is thrown vertically upwards, the Accelereation = - g(Accelereation due to gravity). So,The value may be 9.8 N or 10 N but both will be in negative as because it's travels opposite way to gravity(i.e, here g= -10m/s^2 but it's given g= +10m/s^2,which is confidently wrong).

Correct option :- (A) As when the body reaches at highest point,it will fall down and Definitely, it will move in the direction of Accelereation due to gravity. So, the value of g will be positive 10 m/s^2 or 9.8 m/s^2.
