in all, what is the distance between the village and the school?

Let the required distance be x km.

Then,

\frac{x}{3}+\frac{x}{2} = 5

=> \frac{2x+3x}{6} = 5

=> 5x = 6 \times 5

\therefore x = \frac{6\times 5}{5} = 6 km.
