Given: A bus travels 54 km in 90 minutes.

To find: Speed of the bus

Solution: Let the speed of the bus be v, distance covered be d and time taken be t.

Here, d= 54 km

t = 90 minutes

= (90/60) hours ( 1 hour= 60 minutes)

= 1.5 hours

Since here the motion of bus is constant, therefore the formula for speed used is:

Speed = Distance covered/time taken

=> v = d/t

=> v = 54 km /1.5 hours

= 36 km/h

The speed can also be expressed in m/s by multiplying the value given in km/h by 5/18.

Therefore, speed in m/s

= 36 × (5/18) m/s

= 10 m/s

Therefore, the speed of the bus is 36 km/h in units of km/h and 10m/s in units of m/s.
