1. A car of mass 1500 kg, travelling at 25 m/s. collides with another car a mass 1000 kg travelling
15 m/s in the same direction. After collision, the velocity of A becomes 20 m . calculate the velocity
of car B after collision.
26. Here, mass of car A = 1500 kg: its initial velocity = 5 ms and final velocity after collision

1)It is stated that,

For car A_

Mass (m1)= 1500 kg

Initial velocity(u1)= 25 m/s

Final velocity(v3)= 20 m/s

For car B_

Mass(m2) = 1000 kg

Initial velocity(u2)=5 m/s

Let, the final velocity be v4

From the relationship we get that,

m1v1+m2v2 = m1v3+m2v4

⇒(1500*25)+(1000*15)=(1500*20)+(1000*v4)

⇒37500+15000 = 30000+1000v4

⇒1000v4 = (37500+15000)-30000

⇒1000v4 = 52500-30000

⇒1000v4 = 22500

⇒v4 = 22500/1000

⇒v4 = 22.5 m/s

So, the final velocity of car B after collision is 22.5 m/s
