Let the distance between A and B be x

Speed ¹ = 50kmph

therefore time taken = x/50

return journey

speed ²=40kmph

time taken = x/40

total distance travelled =x+x=2x km

displacement =0

average speed = total distance/total time

= 2x/(x/50+x/40)

= 2x÷[ x(40+50)/200]

= 2*200/90

= 45 kmph

Answer:

total distansce coverd by car

Step-by-step explanation:

A to B = 50 km

return journey =40 km

so 50+40=90km

displacement

car travel A to B = 50 km

return journey =40km

50 - 40 = 10 km

Average speed = total area covered by object / total time taken by object

total time= 50 +40 =90

total time = 1hr +1hr

90 km/2 hr

=45 km
