1. A cylinder and a cone have equal bases.
The height of the cylinder is 3 cm and the
area of its base is 100 cm². The cone is placed
upon the cylinder. Volume of the solid
figure so formed is 500 cm?. Find the total
height of the figure.

Answer:

Let height of cylinder and cone be H and h

Step-by-step explanation:

The cylinder and cone have same bases

πr^2=πr^2

Area of Base = 100cm2.....Given

The Volume of solid figure=V cylinder +V cone

Total Volume = πr^2H + 1/3π^2h

Substituting surface area:-

total vol. = 100H+ 1/3 100h

500= 100x3 + 1/3x100h.......Total volume is given

500-300=100h

200x3=100h

h=6

Total height = H +h

Total height = 3+6

Total height=9cm
