Answer: 2 guests

Step-by-step explanation:

It's a cross-multiplication: a/b = c/d ; ad = bc or a= (bc)/d

40/6 = 30/x

6 × 40 = 30 × (guests + family members)

(guests + family members) = (6×40)/30

(guests + family members) = 8

We already know in the family there are 6 people, so 8 - 6 = 2 guests
