1. A floor is 6m long and 3m wide. A square carpet of sides 4m is laid on the floor. Find the area

of the floor that is not carpeted​

Answer:

length of a floor=6m

breadth of a floor=3m

area of a floor=length × breadth

=6m×3m

=18m²

side of a square=4m

area of a square=(4m)²

=16m²

therefore, the floor that is not carpeted

=area of a rectangle-area of a square carpet

=18m²-16m²

=2m²
