(1)A force of 100N is acting on a surface of area 4 square metre.

If the force is doubled and the area of the surface is made half

of the initial area, what would be the difference in the pressure?

(2)A carton box exerts a pressure of 40 Pa on a table. Calculate

the area of the table if the force exerted by the box is 100N?

1.75 Pa

Explanation:

Assuming that you're asking for the difference in Initial and final pressure -

Since we know, Pressure = Force / Area

Initially, Force = 100 N and Area = 4 sq. m

therefore, pressure = 25Pa

Finally, Force = 200 N and Area = 2 sq. m

therefore, pressure = 100Pa

Difference between Final and Initial = 100 - 25 = 75Pa

2.P = F/A

Given P = 40 Pa; F = 100 N.

So,

Area = F/P

Area = 100/40

       = 2.5 m²
