1. A garden is in the shape of a square with each
side equal to x + 3. If the area of the square field
is 324 m”, then find the perimeter and hence the
cost of fencing the square field at the rate of 5
x + 3
per metre.

Answer:

Area of square = (x+3)^2=324

x^2+6x+9=324

x^2+6x-315

x^2+21x-15x-315

x(x+21)-15(x+21)=0

x=15 or x=-21

therefore, length of side = 15+3=18

perimeter = 18*4=72m

rate of painting = 5*15+3 = 78

78*72= Rs.5616

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of square = (side )²

(x+3)² = 324

(x+3)² = 18²

on comparing

x + 3 = 18

x = 18 -3

x = 15 m

length of side = 15 + 3

=18 m

perimeter of square = 4 × side

= 4 ×18

= 72 m

cost of fencing =( 5 ×18 +3) × 72

93× 72

₹ 6696
