  • The following diagram represents cardiac muscles.

    A- central nucleus

B - Striations representing dark and light bands

  • Cardiac muscles are striated i.e. consists of dark and light bands.
  • They are only found in the heart, therefore, called cardiac muscles.
  • They are branched and involuntary i.e. not under our self-control.
  • They do not fatigue as they have to work all time, pumping blood and beating, and have high endurance.
  • These are multinucleated for vigorous and long-time action.
  • Skeletal muscles are also striated but under voluntary control, which can fatigue.
  • Smooth muscles are non-striated, involuntary , found in the intestine, helps in bowel movement
