Answer:

A lever raised 500 N load using 200 N effort. If load distance and effort distance are 20 cm and 60 cm respectively.

  • Mechanical advantage = 2.5
  • Velocity ratio = 3
  • Efficiency = 83.33%

Explanation:

Given,

Load (L)  =  500 N                 Effort (E)  =  200N

Load distance (L_{d} ) = 20 cm   =  0.2 m

Effort distance (E_{d} ) = 60 cm  =  0.6 m

The mechanical advantage is given by,

  •  Mechanical\ advantage (M.A) = \frac{Load}{Effort}

          M.A =  \frac{500}{200}  = 2.5

The velocity ratio is given by,

  • Velocity\ ratio\ (V.R) = \frac{E_{d} }{L_{d} }

          V.R  = \frac{60}{20} = 3

The efficiency is given by

  • \text { Efficiency, } \eta=\frac{M A}{V R} \times 100 \%

           \eta=\frac{2.5}{3} \times 100 \%

              = 83.33 %
