Answer

Let the age of man be x

and the age of his son be y

According to the question:

After 6 years :

(x+6)=3(y+6)

⇒x−3y=12⟶(i)

Three years ago :

x−3=9(y−3)

⇒x−3=9y−27

⇒x−9y=−24⟶(ii)

Solving (i) and (ii),

6y=36

⇒y=6

Putting value of y in equation (i),

x−3xy=12

∴x=12+18

x=30

∴ Age of man =30 years.

Age of son =6 years.

Given:  A man's age is 6 times as his son

three years ago his age was 9 times the age of his son at that time

To find: Present age  of father and son

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the present age of son be x years.

Then, the present age of his father is 6x years.

Age of the son 3 years ago = (x-3) years

Age of father three years ago = (6x-3)

∴ According to question,

    6x-3 = 9(x-3)

   ⇒  6x-3 = 9x-27

    ⇒  6x-9x = -27+3

      ⇒  -3x = -24

     ⇒      x = 8

∴ Son's present age = 8 years

  Father's present age = 6x = 6×8

                                      = 48years

Answer: Present ages of son and father is 8 years and 48 years respectively.
