metal in Salt is in oxidised state so it will undergo reduction on cathode..if it is aqueous solution then whether metal with undergo reduction or hydrogen it depends on whose SRP is higher

pure water is bad conductor of electricity so to increase the conductivity acid or ionic salt is added
