1.A particle A is projected with speed Va from a point making an angle 60° with the horizontal. At thesame instant, second particle B (lie in the same horizontal plane) is thrown vertically upwards from apoint directly below the maximum height point of parabolic path of A, with velocity Vs. If the twoparticles collide then the ratio of VA/Vb should be ;(C

Hey Shubham,

◆ Answer -

vA/vB = 2/√3

● Explaination -

Time to reach maximum height for particle A -

tA = vA.sinθ/g

tA = vA × sin60° / g

tA = √3/2 vA/g

Time to reach maximum height for particle B -

0 = vB - g.tB

tB = vB/g

Particle A & particle B collide when they are at their max height from the ground.

tA = tB

√3/2 vA/g = vB/g

vA/vB = 2/√3

Therefore, vA/vB = 2/√3.

Thanks for asking..
