1. A particle measure 6.4um.What is its measurement in metre? Also, find
the order of magnitude of size of particle.
2. The wavelength of light of a particular colour is 5800 A. Express it in (i)
nanometre, (ii) meter. What is its order of magnitude in metre?
3. There are 10 divisions on a vernier which coincide with 9 divisions on
the main scale and one cm on the main scale is divided into 10 parts.
Find the least count of the vernier. In a certain observation, the zero of
the vernier lies between 1.8cm and 1.9cm on the main scale. The 5th
division on the vernier coincides with a division of the main scale. Find
the length.
4. The least count of V.C is 0.01 cm and its zero error is -0.03 cm. While
measuring the length of a rod, the zero of vernier scale lies between
5.3cm and 5.4cm and sixth division on vernier is in line with a marking
on the main scale. Calculate the length of the rod.
5. A screw gauge has a negative error of 7 divisions. While measuring the
diameter of a wire the reading on the main scale is 2 divisions with the
79th circular scale division coinciding with the base line. If the main scale
has 10 divisions to a centimetre and the circular scale 100 divisions,
calculate a)pitch b)least count c)observed dia and corrected dia.
