Given : A petrol pump had 75,000 litres of petrol on Monday before it started selling petrol. The following table shows the amount of petrol sold in five days of a week.

To Find :  P , Q , R , S , T , U and V

Solution:

Started with  75,000 litres

Sold on Monday =  13250

so Left on end of Monday = P = 75000 - 13250 =  61750

Start on Tuesday =  Left on end of Monday =   61750

Left  on Tuesday = 50000

Sold on Tuesday = 61750 - 50000  = 11750  = Q

The amount of petrol sold on Tuesday is equal to the amount of petrol left on Friday.

V = Q  = 11750

50000 - R = S

S - T = 21873

21873 - U = V = 11750

=> U = 10123

Sold on friday =  10123

On Thursday 7,218 litres more petrol was sold than that on Friday.

T =  10123 + 7218 = 17,341

S - T = 21873

=> S -  17,341 =  21873

=> S = 39,214

50000 - R =39,214

=> R = 10786

Here is Table:

               75000

13250      61750

11750       50000

10786     39,214

17,341      21873

10123      11750
