1. A rectangular park is 30 m long and 20 m broad. A steel wire fence is put all around it. Find the cost of fencing all around the park at the rate of Rs 15 per meter.

2. A rectangle and a square have the same perimeter 100 cm. Find the side of the square. If the rectangle's breadth is 2 cm less than the side of the square, find the length and breadth of the rectangle.

Answer:

1. Rs. 1500

2. 25 cm, 23 cm, 27 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Length of the park, l = 30 m

  Breadth of the park, b = 20 m

   Perimeter of the park = 2( l + b)

                                       = 2(30 + 20)

                                       = 100 m

 Rate of fencing around the park = Rs. 15 per metre

 Cost of fencing = 15 × 100

                           = Rs. 1500

∴ The cost of fencing all around the park is Rs. 1500.

2. Let the perimeter of rectangle = P

   and that of square = p

   Given: P = p = 100 cm

  Side of the square, s = 100 ÷ 4

                                      = 25 cm

According to the condition:

Breadth of the rectangle, b = 25 - 2

     ⇒ b = 23 cm

Length of the rectangle, l = ?

P = 2( l + b)

⇒ 100 = 2( l + 23)

⇒ 50 = l + 23

l = 27 cm

∴ The length and breadth of the rectangle are 27 cm and 23 cm. The side of the square is 25 cm.

Hope this helps you :)
