A rectangular tank, measuring 30 centimetres by 24 centimetres by
18 centimetres, was filled with water to a depth of 12 centimetres.
Another 1080 millilitres of water were then poured into the tank.
Find the height of the new water level.

Volume of water in tank=30×20×6=3600cm

Volume of water in tank + Volume of cube=4600cm

height=h of water when volume is 4600 in the tank of length=30,breadth=20 is,

⇒30×20×h=4600

⇒h=7.667cm

Difference in height when cube submerged in tank=10−7.6667=2.333

Volume of water must be poured in tank=30×20×2.333=1399.98cm
