The total number of 14 cm strips is 21.
The remaining length of the ribbon is 6 cm.
Given data :
Total length of the ribbon is 3 metres = 300 centimetres [term of unit conversion 1 metre = 100 centimetres]
Length of one strip is 14 centimetres.
So,we have to calculate the number of 14 centimetre strips and the remaining strip length.
For that we have to divide the total length of the ribbon by the length of one strip.
So,the quotient of the above mentioned division work will be the number of strips and remainder will be remaining strip length.
• The division = 300/14
Here,the quotient = 21
The remainder = 6
• So, 21 strips of 14 cm is possible.
• And the remaining length of ribbon is 6 centimetres.
