1. A rope of length 3 m 20 cm is cut into two pieces such that the ratio of the lengths of the pieces is 7 : 9. Find the length of the larger piece ( in cm ).​

Total length of rope = 3 m 20 cm

= 320cm

( 1 m = 100 cm so 3 m = 300 cm + 20cm = 320cm)

Let the length of the pieces be 7x and 9x

7x + 9x = 320 cm

16 x = 320

x = 320 ÷ 16

x = 20

so, 7x = 7(20) = 140cm

9x = 9(20) = 180 cm

SO THE LENGTH OF THE LARGER PIECE IS 180cm
