1. A screwdriver and a hammer currently have
the same price. If the price of a screwdriver
rises by 5% and the price of a hammer goes
up by 3%, how much more will it cost to buy 3
screwdrivers and 3 hammers?​

Let the initial price of screw driver and hammer both be X.

After 5% increase, new price of screw driver would be = 1.05 X

After 3% increase, new price of hammer would be = 1.03 X  

So price of 3 screw drivers and 3 hammers after price increase would be = 3*1.05 X + 3*1.03 X = 6.24 X

Had the price not increased, then the price of 3 screw drivers and 3 hammers would have been = 3*X+ 3*X = 6 X

So % increase in price =

100* (6.24X- 6 X)/ 6X = 4%
