The weight of the final statue is 33.6 kg

Given :   A sculptor starts carving a block of marble weighing 140kg.

After one week he has chipped away one-tenth of the marble.

After the second week, he has chipped away a further two-thirds and

in the final week he has chipped away 20 percent of what he has left,

To Find :  the weight of the final statue

Solution:

Starting Weight = 140 kg

Weight chipped in first week = (1/10)140 = 14 kg

Weight Remaining after first week =  140 - 14  = 126 kg

Weight chipped in second Week = (2/3) 126  = 84 kg

Weight Remaining after second week =  126 - 84 = 42 kg

Weight chipped in final week = (20/100)42 =8.4 kg

Weight Remaining after final week =  42 - 8.4  = 33.6 kg

the weight of the final statue is 33.6 kg
