1. A stone is dropped from the top of a building 200 m high and at the same time another stone is projected vertically upward from the ground with a velocity of 50 ms. find where and when the two stones will meet.



2. A ball thrown vertically upward reaches a height of 80 m. calculate
A. the time of reach the highest point.
B. the speed of the ball upon arrival on the ground.

1. Let distance travelled by 1st stone is x.
Distance travelled by 2nd stone is 200-x.
For 1st stone, u=0
x=1/2 gt^2
And for 2nd stone, u=50m/s
200-x =50t-1/2 gt^2

Adding both the equations,
200=50t
t=4 sec
Hence the two stones will meet after 4 s.
And x=1/2×10 ×4^2=80m
200-x= 120m
Hence 1st stone will travel 80m and 2nd will travel 120m.
