1) A table and a chair have the price Rs.1250. The price of the table is

450 Rs. more than that of the chair. What is the price of each ?

2) A bag and an umbrella cost Rs.500.The price of the bag is 150Rs. more

than that of the umbrella.Find the price of each one ? Explain the

method you found out in algebraic expression .

3) The Perimeter of rectangle is 40 c.m. The length is 4 cm more than its

breadth.Then find the length and breadth ? [ Remember the fact

that ‘Half the Perimeter is the sum of length and breadth’]

4) Appu has two water bottles of different size. Both of them contain

1.5 litres of water.The larger one contain 250 ml. more.

Then find outthevolume of both bottles .[Hint :-1.5 litre = 1500 ml.]

5 ) The average of two numbers is 18 and also their difference is 18. Find

the largest number ? [ Total = Average x Number ]

Let x be the price of the chair and y be the price of the table

x+y = 1250.............................(1)

x+450 = y .............................(2)

(2) in (1) we get

x + ( x + 450 ) = 1250

2x + 450 = 1250

2x = 1250 - 450

2x = 800

x = 400

y = x+450

= 400 + 450

y = 850

Therefore the price of the table is 850 rs

the price of the chair is 400 rs
