1. A train covers a distance of 960 km at x km/hr. Had the speed been (x + 16) km/hr, the time
taken to cover the same distance would have been reduced by 3 hours.

Answer:

160km/ hr

Step-by-step explanation:

distance =960km/hr ,960/t

speed r =x km/ hr ,t=970/ t

time = t hrs

distance =960 km / hr

speed v2= (x+16) km/ hr

time = t2= ( t-3) hrs

we know the speed v= distance / time

v= d/t

here d = 960 km/ hr ( constant )

v× 1/ t

= v1 × t1 = v2 × t2

x× t= ( x+ 16)×(t-3)

xt= xt- 3x+ 16 t-48

16 t - 3x = 48

t-3x=3

960/x -3x= 3

960 - 3 x = 3 x

960= 6 x

960/6

x= 160 km/ hr
