(The diagram  in the question is attached below in the answer tab)

Given :

Weight of the rod AB= 100N

Length of the rod AB= 2m

Load acting on the rod = 20 kgf

To Find :

The tension in the strings attached to the rod

Solution :

  • Let us Assume Tension in the string at A = T₁

Tension in the string at B = T₂

  • By considering moments at point A

           100\times1+(200 \times0.5)=T_{2} \times2

           2T_{2} =200

           T_{2} =100N

  • The net force on the rod should be zero
  • Sum of upward forces = Sum of downward forces

           T_{1} +T_{2} =200+100

           T_{1} +T_{2} =300

           T_{1} =200N

The tension in the strings are 200N &  100N respectively .
