1. A verandah of width 2.25 m is constructed all along outside a room which is 55 m
long and 4 m wide. Find:
(i) the area of the verandah,
(ii) the cost of cementing the floor of the verandah at the rate of 200 per m2​

(|) Length of room ➤ 5.5 m

Breadth of room ➤ 4 m

∴ Area of the room

➻ l×b

➻ 5.5 m × 4 m

➻ 22m^2.

➸ The length of room with verandah

➙ 5.5+4.5 ➛ 10 m

➸ The breadth of room with verandah

➙ 4+4.5 ➛ 8.5 m

➜ Area of the room with verandah

➙ 10 × 8.5 ÷ 10

➙ 85 m^2

The area of only verandah

➙ 85-22

➙ 63m^2

(||) The cost of cementing of verandah

➙ 200×63

➙ ₹ 12600
