Answer: 2 days
Given that,
- A village of population of 5000 people and each people requires 120L of water per day.
Also,
- The village has a tank which measures 20m by 20m by 3m. Looking at the dimension, It is clear that the tank is in the shape of a cuboid.
Now, lets find the total amount of water required by the village per day, which is given by:-
⇒ Water required by 1 person × Population
⇒ 120 × 5000
⇒ 600,000 L
We know, the volume of a cuboid is given by:-
⇒ Length × Breadth × Height
⇒ 20 × 20 × 3
⇒ 400 × 3
⇒ 1200 m³
But, we need the volume of the tank in litres in order to find the number of days it is gonna last for, so 1 m³ = 1000 L , hence
⇒ Volume of Tank = 1,200,000 L
Now, the number of days the tank is gonna last for is given by:-
⇒ Volume of Tank ÷ Amount of water required per day
⇒ 1,200,000 / 600,000
⇒ 2
Hence, the tank is gonna last for 2 days.
