Answer:

Tank A ; 28

Tank B ; 21

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Tank B is filled in y units of time, and tank A in x units of time

X - 7 = Y………….eq(a)

In one minute, Tank A filling would be = 1/x and Tank B filling would be 1/y

Time taken when both tanks are being filled in a minute

= 1/x + 1/y = 16 (according to given information)

x- xy/x+y   = 16

Solving this;

x² -16x - 16y = 0

Putting the value of y from eq(a)

x²-16x - 16(x-7) = 0

x² - 32x + 112 = 0

Solving the above equation gives;

X = 28

Y = 21
