Answer:

1 (a) In physics, refraction is the change in direction of a wave passing from one medium to another or from a gradual change in the medium. Refraction of light is the most commonly observed phenomenon, but other waves such as sound waves and water waves also experience refraction

(b) Light waves change speed when they pass across the boundary between two substances with a different density , such as air and glass. This causes them to change direction, an effect called refraction . the light slows down going into a denser substance, and the ray bends towards the normal.

An object seen in the water will usually appear to be at a different depth than it actually is, due to the refraction of light rays as they travel from the water into the air.

a) the fact or phenomenon of light, radio waves, etc. being deflected in passing obliquely through the interface between one medium and another or through a medium of varying density.

Hope it helps
